Mike Marshall is one of the world's most accomplished and versatile string instrumentalists. A master on mandolin, mandocello, guitar and violin, he has created adventurous, innovative music for over 35 years in concerts and on recordings. As a co-founder of the Mandolin Symposium, Mike brings both virtuosic artistry and infectious enthusiasm. His creative, diligent, and inquisitive approach to all things mandolin has been essential to making the Symposium a leading forum for the new renaissance of the mandolin.
This year at the Symposium, Mike offers electives ranging from improvisation to composition as well as creative variations on classical and Brazilian choro repertoire. Together with his latest collaborator, German classical mandolin phenomenon Caterina Lichtenberg, Mike will present The Art of the Duo, focusing on two pieces from their new Adventure Music CD and recent international tours.
